James Weidman Trio featuring Marion Cowings

Pianist James Weidman is indisputably an essential addition to whatever bandstand he graces. Relationships requiring both the skilled touch of an adept soloist as well as superior accompaniment expertise, the gifted Mr. Weidman has it all.

"I've never forgotten my father's advice the first time I ever played with him: 'Keep the time, stay out of the way, and tell a story.” James also shares his greatness with his students at William Patterson University
Joining James tonight is another Jazz Great, Vocalist Marion Cowings. A native New Yorker whos smooth baritone voice and considerable range has been delighting audiences around the world for decades. Mentored by the legendary Jon Hendricks, Marion is a master of scat and vocal technique. He has appeared at the Blue Note, Village Vanguard, and Lincoln Center as well as many prestigious venues abroad. Today, Cowings regularly performs and holds Jazz Vocal workshops at the world famous Small’s Jazz Club in the West Village.
