A night of Latin jazz featuring Nestor Milanes on piano, Glen Papa G Palermo on bass, Christian Rivera on percussion and Jack Morelli on drums.
Nestor Milanes is an accomplished Pianist/Composer who has studied Piano at Conservatorio de Musica Universidad Nacional de Colombia. You can find Nestor performing everywhere form jazz clubs to Latin venues and then on Sundays playing in church. mixing the unique sounds of Puerto Rico, Brazil, Colombia and the USA, Nestor also performs often with his family in a group called Son Milanes, playing songs from Columbia doing everything from salsa, merengue, cha cha cha, and cumbia.
Christian Revera- is a very special percussionist who is endorsed by Latin Percussion instrument company. He is in big demand both with small combos and large ensembles. He has helped to bring Afro-Cuban and Caribbean sounds like mambo, son, and cha-cha-chá, to mainstream audiences . If trova was the first native Cuban folk music, then son was the first Afro-Cuban musical form. Son was essentially a marriage of syncopated African rhythms and percussion with trova's Spanish-derived melodies and string instruments.(Much of what Americans referred to as "rumba" during this time was actually son.)
